Join Chigan Roshi and the sangha at New York Zendo Shobo-ji to commemorate the founding of our temple. Established on September 15, 1968 by Soen Nakagawa Roshi and Eido Shimano Roshi, New York Zendo Shobo-ji was one of the first Rinzai Zen practice centers in the United States. For over half a century we have continued to offer authentic Rinzai Zen training amid the bustle of life in Manhattan. Sesshin will include zazen, morning service, chanting, sarei, teisho and dokusan. Formal jihatsu meals will be served.
Full-time participation is encouraged; part-time attendance will be considered as space allows. If you have any questions, or if this will be your first sesshin, please email office@newyorkzendo.org before registering.
The fee for sesshin is $150 for Zen Studies Society Supporting Members and $175 for non-members. Note that the Member price is for Members only – please consider becoming a Supporting Member of ZSS. No one will be turned away for lack of funds; contact office@newyorkzendo.org for support. ZSS Health Protocols apply.
