Endowment Fund

For 66 years, the Zen Studies Society has had a profound impact on the lives of countless spiritual seekers who have come to our New York City temple and our monastery in the Catskill Mountains, whether for daily zazen, intensive retreats (sesshin), special programs and events, or residential practice periods (kessei). Our teachers offer the Dharma in person and online to students from all over the world.

In 2021, the Zen Studies Society established an endowment fund, with an initial gift of $2 million, thanks to the generosity of a major donor. We are seeking to raise a total of $4 million, so that whatever the circumstances, ZSS will always have a stable source of steady revenue. Earnings from this fund will support our work for generations to come.

We invite you to help us ensure our beloved organization’s long-term vitality with your tax-deductible contributions. Contributions can be made online, or by check to the Zen Studies Society. When sending a check, please write “Endowment Fund” on the memo line and send to:

To learn more, or if you would like to explore planned giving opportunities, please contact Jikan Lucy Brusini by phone at (201) 618-7896, or email jikan@zenstudies.org.

With deep bows of gratitude for being such an important part of our Zen family.
