All-Day Sits / Weekend Sesshins

While we cautiously begin opening to limited in-person practice, we continue our online teachings, meetings and sittings every day. Read our full Covid Protocols here.

Spending one or more days immersed in Zen practice in the middle of the city is a rare and precious opportunity. These intense, silent meditation days help deepen one’s zazen experience and help prepare for longer sesshins at Dai Bosatsu Zendo.

All-Day Sits are typically held on Sundays. The program includes zazen, chanting, a Dharma talk, and the opportunity for a one-on-one interview with a teacher. Please see our calendar for dates and fees.

SAMPLE SCHEDULE:
7:15      Doors open
8:00     Morning Service, Kinhin
9:00     Sarei (formal tea), Zazen, Practice interviews
12:00    Lunch, Break
2:00      Sarei, Zazen, Kinhin
3:00      Dharma Talk, Kinhin, Zazen
4:45      Closing Ceremony
5-6:00  Temple cleaning and informal tea

Weekend sesshins begin at 7 p.m. Friday evening and end at 6 p.m. Sunday evening. The schedule is similar to the All-Day Sit schedule, with the addition of an opening ceremony and zazen periods on Friday evening, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with talks and individual meetings with our teachers. ZSS Covid Protocols apply.
