Recognizing the urgency of the climate crisis and the need to respond from the clarity of our practice, we hope you can join us for a weekend workshop July 24-27, 2025, at Dai Bosatsu Zendo called “Contemplative Practice and Climate Action.”
The goal of the workshop is to model the nonduality of contemplative practice and action as we develop Climate Action Plans (CAPs) for our temples and plan workshops in subsequent years for wider audiences.
Working sessions will be interwoven with monastery practice: morning service, zazen, formal breakfasts, informal meals and temple caretaking. Outdoor activities will include forest bathing, tours of DBZ’s sustainability work to date, swimming, and work practice, such as identifying and removing invasive species and gardening.
The working sessions will include:
In addition to formal sessions, time for informal discussion and sharing creative ideas will be an important part of the weekend. A detailed daily schedule will be provided to participants closer to the date.
Especially now in these fraught times, as we rapidly approach (and pass) tipping points in the climate crisis, we hope you can join us for this significant workshop. It’s an important beginning to meeting the challenges we face with compassion and wisdom.
The cost of this workshop is $150. Please purchase a ticket below. If you have questions, please email engaged@zenstudies.org. ZSS Health Protocols apply.
