Online: Zen by the Numbers
September 25 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
An Eight-Week Course Taught by Hokuto Osho
Zen Buddhist teachings are filled with numbers, like the four Noble Truths, the six paramitas and the eightfold path. This eight-week course offers a survey of Buddhism’s core concepts, each presented in relation to a number — starting with zero for mu and sunyata, and going all the way to 12 for the 12-link chain of dependent origination. Each 90-minute class will include zazen, a Dharma talk and group discussion.
The course will meet Sundays from 4-5:30 p.m. for eight weeks starting Sept. 25. (This class will not meet on days that conflict with sesshin.) The suggested course fee is $100 for Zen Studies Society members and $125 for non-members — more, if you can afford it, less if you cannot. This class is closed to enrollment. You are welcome to register for other Zen Studies events.
