Led By: Ananta of Triratna NYC
Event Description:
We’re so grateful to be able to gather and have fun in person once again, so we’ve been organizing monthly weekend practice days in NYC as a chance to come together and practice in community. For this May NYC practice day, the theme will be The Buddha in the Light.
Join us at New York Zendo Shobo-ji for a morning of reflective practice. May is the month we celebrate the Buddha’s enLIGHTenment, his waking up to the truth of the human condition. On this practice day, we will explore the Buddha’s awakening through the lens of light, bright shining light. What did his enlightenment mean? What did it consist of? How did LIGHT help him see what he couldn’t see before?
Our practice will include meditation, input & talk, discussion, and ritual. Emphasis will be on lightly-led mindfulness meditation and walking practice.
The morning will be followed by lunch and a cultural excursion.
Lunch will be at 1:15 pm at Le Botaniste UES, which serves 100% organic, plant-based food. You can find it at 833 Lexington Avenue (between 63rd & 64th St). After that, we’ll head to the Asian Art Collection at the Met.
This event is OPEN TO ALL—all are welcome. Join us as early as 9:40 am.
