Join us in person and online to commemorate the founding of our temple. New York Zendo Shobo-ji officially opened its doors on September 15, 1968. It was one of the first Rinzai Zen practice centers to be established in the United States. For over half a century, we have continued to offer authentic Rinzai Zen training amid the bustle of life in Manhattan. Led by Chigan Roshi, with zazen, chanting, teisho and dokusan. Formal meals will be served. For those participating through Zoom, off-line time will be built into the schedule for meals, work practice at home and kinhin. The ZSS Covid Protocols apply to in-person participation.
The in-person fee is $140 for members, $165 for nonmembers. The sliding scale suggested contribution for online participation is $75-150.
Given the ongoing unpredictability of the Covid-19 epidemic, we may need to shift events to online participation only as the situation requires. Please check our website frequently and sign up for our Zen Studies Society Events email for regular updates.
