DBZ: Nyogen Senzaki Jukai Sesshin
May 4, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - May 9, 2019 @ 3:00 pm
Please join us as we honor Nyogen Senzaki, a great early pioneer of Zen in America, in this sesshin led by Shinge Roshi amid the glory of spring. A disciple of Soen Shaku Roshi, Nyogen Senzaki came to the United States in 1905. He practiced alone at first, then was gradually sought out by Americans eager to learn about and practice Zen. His teachings and poems continue to inspire us decades after his passing. Shinge Roshi will hold Jukai (precepts ceremony) for her students on the final day of sesshin. This will be a beautiful time to practice at DBZ, as the mountain warms and blooms.
The fee is $315 for members, $350 for non-members. Transportation may be available from New York City. If you have any questions, or if this will be your first sesshin at DBZ, please call 845-439-4566 or email office@daibosatsu.org before you register.
