DBZ: Kanzeon Sesshin

Please join Chigan Roshi and the residents of Dai Bosatsu Zendo for the new Kanzeon Sesshin. The schedule of this sesshin has been designed as a middle ground between the physically strenuous seven-day sesshin and shorter weekend offerings.
In the Kanzeon Sesshin, we maintain the rigorous nature of sesshin practice while adhering to a schedule that accommodates practitioners of all ages and physical abilities. Informed by the all-inclusive compassion of the bodhisattva Kanzeon, the schedule meets practitioners where they are, making it possible for all to reap the benefits of deep practice at our mountain monastery.
The schedule will include:
- Eleven zazen periods daily (25-30 minutes long)
- Dokusan twice a day (in zendo order, no running)
- Generous rest periods between schedule blocks
- Wake up at 6 a.m. and closing at 9:30 p.m.
- Kinhin (walking meditation) conducted at a comfortable walking pace (no fast kinhin)
- Four-day duration, part-time attendance possible
The fee for this sesshin is $300 for nonmembers and $275 for Zen Studies Society (ZSS) members. Note that the member price is for ZSS members only – please consider becoming a Supporting Member. If this will be your first sesshin, or you have any questions, please email office@daibosatsu.org before registering. ZSS Health Protocols apply.
If you are able to support students in financial difficulty, please consider making an additional donation.
